BPS OSCAR (Out of School Care & Recreation) Programme
The BPS OSCAR Programme is managed by the Birkenhead Primary School Board of Trustees and is based on-site in the school hall. Our goal is to provide high-quality, accessible, and affordable childcare for the Birkenhead Primary School community.
If you are looking for before- or after-school care, we offer a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where children can relax, have fun, and build positive social connections.

Children are encouraged to make choices about how they spend their time, with a balance of structured and informal activities offered each day.
Holiday programmes are available during each term break, with specific details and activity schedules shared closer to each programme.
Programme Details

Breakfast and afternoon tea are provided

Staff deliver and collect Year 0 and Year 1 students to and from their classrooms

Staff-to-child ratios:

1:10 – On-site (term time)

1:8 – Off-site (holiday programme trips)

Only authorised parents/caregivers listed during enrolment may collect children

Photo ID may be requested at any time

Please ensure all authorised pickups are recorded in Aimy Plus

Children will not be released to anyone not listed without prior consent
Session Times & Fees
Before School Care (7:30am – 8:30am)

Regular booking: $9 per session

Casual booking: $12.50 per session
After School Care (3:00pm – 6:00pm)

Regular booking: $18 per session

Casual booking: $25 per session
Booking Information

Regular bookings must be made by 11:30pm on the Friday prior to the week required

Late bookings will be treated as casual bookings and charged accordingly

For same-day bookings, please call or text 022 536 5946 first to confirm availability

We recommend booking early, as spaces are limited and some days reach capacity

Please include your child’s name and invoice number as a reference.
Invoices are issued on Monday of the week your child attends, and payment is due by Friday of the same week.
